Day of Photonics Celebration, 2014

Venue- ICIT Conference hall, Department of Electronic Science, University of Pune.
Date- 21st Oct 2014.

About the Event- On 21 October 1983, the General Conference of Weights And Measures adopted the value of 299,792.458 km/s for the speed of light. Thus its being celebrated as Day of Photonics worldwide. Moreover 2014 was the first year as its conceptualization.
We at Jampot Photonics took the initiative to organize an Event on this day to create general awareness on Photonics and its interdisciplinary fields among students and practitioners. Photonics being a Key Enabling Technology, its important that people in India are aware of the significance and relevance. Our initiative was aimed in the direction of engaging more people in Photonics so that a notable contribution can be made in research and engineering of Photonics.
Our mission was supported by many prominent individuals who presented there work in photonics and general roadmap for photonics in India was discussed. The whole Event was found to be very enriching in terms of knowledge share by the students who attended the event. This is what motivates us to work harder and be more contributive towards society “photonically”.
Next year we aim to take it to the next level by contributing more towards photonic knowledge sharing and organizing an event which would be stepping stone for Photonics Revolution in India.
